Company ProfileJim Mello began Mello Sales in 1985 as an independent representative for the Pet Industry covering the 13 western states, B.C. and Alberta Canada. His company was successful because he was able to call on the many contacts he made while working for pet product manufactures and sitting on the PIJAC, and WWPSA board of directors. He and Gene Feazell, our CO & UT representative, are both now esteemed members of the WWPSA Past President Association. As Jim’s company grew he added associates in key locations. Today the company has 10 team members with continued growth planned. Historically Mello Sales was a connection between the manufacturer and the distributor. In January 2005 we added a dedicated staff calling on retail stores in the major markets on the west coast. Furthermore, we invested in placing some of our strongest sales people at the doors of Petco and PETsMART. Kevin Mello has serviced Petco since 2001 and has fused strong relationships will all levels of the buying staff. Kevin is the main contact in Petco for the Kong Company and other manufacturers. Lynn Applegate has worked with and for PETsMART since 1996 and joined our team in May 2005. In addition to having strong working relationships with their employees she enjoys personal relationships with them as well. Mello Sales has had the pleasure of helping to grow several respected companies in the Pet Industry such as The Kong Company, All-Glass Aquarium, Danner Manufacturing, GPC (maker’s of World’s Best Cat Litter), and Lixit Animal Care Products. Much research and planning has gone into securing our growth and success for the future. The company became incorporated in January of 2005 naming Jim’s son Kevin Mello as president and Julie Hutchings as Vice President. Jim remains at the helm as CEO and lends his experience as we continue to assist manufacturers in their quest for a lucrative spot in the Pet Industry.
